Humifloc impact on Tank Based Biofloc Culture
By 2050, the world’s population is projected to hit 9.6 billion people, and as demand for animal protein rises year after year, it will be a challenge to provide high-quality protein while protecting natural resources for future generations. Biofloc technology, in this context, plays a critical role in promoting health by providing animal nutrition while also creating jobs and economic development.
(A) Direct application as a recycling agent:
Fresh Water (Carp & Catfish) Culture:
Initial Dose/Acre: Start apply after 15 to 20 days of fish
stocking. Depending on the stocking density and present
aquatic conditions of the pond you have to use 3 to 8 bags.
Successive or Booster Dose/Acre: 1 to 2 bags fortnightly
Saline Water (Vannamei) Culture:
Initial Dose/Acre: Start apply after 10 to 15 days of stocking.
Use 2 to 3 bags /1000 sq mtr
Successive or Booster Dose/Acre: 1 bag weekly.
Application Procedure:
1 bag humifloc + 1.5 kg molasses + 400 gm yeast + 200 gm raw salt (in case of fresh water
aquaculture) + 40 to 50 litre water from same pond.
Mix all the materials very gently and set the mixture for fermentation (preferably in a closed/air tight
container) for 18 hours in a cool place. Avoid direct sunlight in the mixture.
Spread the mixture uniformly throughout the cultured water body.
